Amina Khalique is a freshman and political science major at Wayne State University. She is a passionate, goal-oriented individual who takes interest in advocating, community organizing, voicing her opinion on political and social issues, and positively improving the well-being of her community. She is extremely proud of her work in organizing marches, events, and specifically, helping the Muslim community by lobbing the Detroit Public Schools Community District to alter their systems and processes to accommodate Muslim students during Ramadan, for important high school events such as prom. Recently, Amina has been awarded NAACP’s Exceptional Student Leadership award, and hopes to continue that leadership at Wayne State.

As she continues her education, Amina would like to practice law someday, with a specific interest in getting justice for men and women who have been sexually assaulted and/or harassed. Additionally, she’d like to create a nonprofit organization that will benefit women's health. One goal that Amina would like to accomplish in this nonprofit is to provide menstrual items and necessities for women in low-income households. These items can be expensive, so she is determined to help women who need an organization like this that will positively impact their health. Aside from these goals, Amina hopes that she can make a positive impact to the world and to young people who may see her as an inspiration.
