Andrew's many years of work as a high school physical education and outdoor education teacher highlighted that there were elements of developing our young people into adulthood that we were missing. His desire to help build respectful, responsible, resilient, resourceful and reflective young adults led to him creating The Rite Journey, a school based year-long Rite of Passage program which sees over 12,000 young people in over 150 initiated into adulthood through the hero’s journey inspired process.
Andrew has created a set of resources that help teachers and parents in building relationships with their students and children which include conversation cards to foster connection and feeling cards to build emotional literacy.
More recently Andrew has developed a suite of other offerings for both families and schools including:
The Parenting Plan - a scaffold using birthdays as graduation points for developing responsibility and capacity; Heroic Habits - a set of 18 dispositions taught to year 7s; Anchored - a program designed to help students weather the storms of life and Influence - focussing on service leadership.
