One year ago Lucas Vetter visited the Howell Fire Department. He saw a hands free CPR machine called LUCAS. During the tour Lucas learned that this device can significantly help increase the survival rate of patients that are in cardiac arrest.
When Lucas got home he was determined to help spread awareness and fundraise to help every fire station have a LUCAS. Lucas saw a need and acted on it. In the past year Lucas has presented in front of rooms full of adults. He has appeared on the news and been interviewed on the radio, There have been fundraising dinners and a charity golf outing. Big stuff for a nine year old!
When he is asked why he does this he says, simply,”because I really care about people and I care about our community.”
“I think a Hero is someone who takes on a challenge that is new for them to do. You fight through the nerves and pain that says I can’t do this to someone who says I CAN do this. I just have to work harder to make a difference“ Lucas Vetter.
