Darren McCubbin is a Gippsland based writer, performer and theatre director who has entertained most of Australia’s leading companies.
He directs the local Yarram Secondary College and Mirradong's annual performances as well as many interactive shows. These have included whodunits for Citibank in Beijing, “The Story of Chocolate” for Daimler Chrysler in Jakarta, and Quiz nights for IBM in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Whilst at home there are regular performances for companies such as National Australia Bank, Trident Computers, Wilson Parking, ANZ, Australian Unity, HiFert, McDonalds and more.
Darren lives with his wife and two daughters in Longford. He is a former chair of the Panel of Festivals Australia under the Commonwealth Government, is current chair of the Gippsland Climate Change Network, and was Mayor of the Shire of Wellington in 2008, 2009 and 2015. Darren has been Australian Champion Town Crier twice and came second in the World Town Crier Championships in Chester in 2014.
