Miry Whitehill is a nonprofit executive director, social entrepreneur, and community activist. Her work over the past decade focuses on immigration, community engagement, and digital marketing. Miry is best known as the founder of Miry's List, a nonprofit organization founded in LA that provides a mechanism for American people to directly support families resettling in their communities as refugees. Since its founding in 2016, Miry’s List has served over 350 families from countries including Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran by connecting them with their new American neighbors.
In 2017, Miry co-founded New Arrival Supper Club, a social impact culinary experience featuring new arrival chefs opportunities. The program gives resettling families opportunities to share their culture, show off their skills, make money, and meet American people who want to welcome them. Since 2017, New Arrival Supper Club has connected thousands of Angelenos with their resettling neighbors at over 60 sold-out events and paid over $100K in wages to resettling chefs.
In 2019, Miry was awarded the 2019 LinkedIn Compassion Award, and as one of 11 Women Who Are Making L.A. A Better Place by Los Angeles Magazine in 2018. She’s been featured in PRI’s The World, Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, NBC Nightly News, KCRW’s Good Food, Food & Wine, The Daily Dot, Spectrum News, Ms. Magazine, Jewish Journal, Parade, CBS LA, LA Weekly, NBC LA and ABC LA.
