Brian R. Riches is a student, researcher, and professor whose main goal in life is to help people become better!

Early in his career, Brian worked with families one on one to help children and teens gain social and emotional skills to help them thrive at school, home, and in life. This passion led him to seek out more training so he could create his own curriculum and activities to help people.

He is currently finishing up his PhD training at Claremont Graduate University in Southern California while teaching part-time at California State University, Fullerton. As an applied developmental scientist, he researches heroism, moral development, and purpose in life as avenues to positive youth development. His original research has shown that there are many types of heroes, and he uses this information to guide hero training programs.

One of Brian’s favorite things to do is create and evaluate programs, activities, and curriculum that foster heroism and purpose in life among young people. He has spent the better part of the last decade building, researching, and evaluating hero and purpose programs.
