Fiona Passarin is dedicated to educating people about how to eliminate violence against women and simple ways bystanders can make a difference. She has worked in health promotion her whole career and runs training seminars to build prevention skills in communities, businesses, clubs, schools and families.
She has worked closely in the Bass Coast and South Gippsland region for over 20 years. She has speciality experience in the prevention of men’s violence against women and in the impact bystanders can have when they speak up. For the last 10 years her work has focused on the link between gender inequality and family violence.
Fiona has facilitated over 80 sessions of The Mentor's in Violence Prevention/MATE programme, reaching over 1200 community members across Gippsland. She has also developed MakING the Link guided conversations which educates people on the link between gender inequality and family violence.
Fiona has a deep understanding of strategies that eliminate violence, its complexities and the actions necessary for creating change.
She believes a key pathway forward is in bystander empowerment and helping people in communities, workplace and families become active bystanders and know what to do and say. She teaches people how their voice can make a difference and how to break the patterns of violence for a better future.
